  3. Accesses is addictive.  Launch programs from any program and 
  4. Accesses will place that program in your preset startup 
  5. position.  It doesn't matter if that program was closed in 
  6. the wrong position the last time you ran it.
  7.  
  8. If you hate dragging windows to your normal locations, Touch 
  9. Accesses with the right mouse button, then touch any window, 
  10. even a DOS window for 386 systems, and the window will be 
  11. placed in your preferred window position or any of 8 user 
  12. configurable "generic" positions.
  13.  
  14. ********   PLACING AND CLOSING WINDOWS   ********
  15.  
  16. Accesses replaces your Windows Task Manager with a program 
  17. that does much more than switch between applications.  You 
  18. can select 1, 2,..., up to ALL of your windows from the 
  19. Accesses Task Manager and have them:
  20.  
  21. 1.    Closed.
  22. 2.    Placed in their default positions.
  23. 3.    Minimized.
  24. 4.    Split the screen.  Have one show on the Top half and
  25.       the other on the Bottom half of your screen
  26. 5.    Moved to overlapping Quadrants on your screen, top
  27.       right, top left, bottom right, bottom left
  28. 6.    Moved to top right, top left, bottom right, bottom
  29.       left, right half, left half, maximized, minimized,
  30.       tiled, cascade, above icons, arrange icons, hide, swap
  31.       apps and icons,...
  32.  
  33. All of this is easily configurable.  You decide what Top 
  34. half means.  You decide what Default means.  You move a 
  35. window to the position that you are defining and tell 
  36. Accesses that's what you want defined for Top Half, or 
  37. that's where you want all of your Notepad's to start up, 
  38. except you want "Notepad - WIN.INI" to always start up here, 
  39. and "Notepad - SYSTEM.INI" to start over there, and Winword 
  40. to start up there,...
  41.  
  42. What if they are already started up and 3 hours later your 
  43. screen is a mess.  Select one or all the windows and tell 
  44. Accesses to put them back to where you wanted them.
  45.  
  46. What if you don't want to define a window's position.  For 
  47. example, you are testing a program downloaded from a 
  48. bulletin board.  Launch that program; touch Accesses pop-up 
  49. window with the right mouse button; select one of 8 generic 
  50. positions that can be used for all applications; touch the 
  51. window you want moved.  This is easier to do than to 
  52. explain.
  53.  
  54. Up to a ridiculous 1024 window positions can be defined; 
  55. although I haven't seen a need for defining more than 100 
  56. positions.  I mean, you normally want your Windows for 
  57. particular programs in one spot, but occasionally you want 
  58. one to always start up in a different spot when it has a 
  59. particular document.
  60.  
  61. How hard is this to set up?  So easy that Accesses does the 
  62. 1st initialization when you 1st start Accesses.  Before you 
  63. start Accesses for the 1st time, the README.TXT file asks 
  64. you to launch and place programs to where you want them to 
  65. start up.  This way Accesses already has this information 
  66. when it 1st starts.  How about adding more afterwards.  
  67. Place those windows and ask Accesses to save those too.
  68.  
  69. ********   SAVING FOLDERS   ********
  70.  
  71. Accesses will save up to 10 different folders and each 
  72. folder can have up to 20 programs included in it.  A folder 
  73. is a list of programs that you currently have running and 
  74. that you want to run later as a group.  Minimize the 
  75. programs that you don't want saved in a folder and save the 
  76. others to use when you start Windows the next time.
  77.  
  78. Oh my gosh.  You've launched the wrong desktop.  Do you have 
  79. to wait for all 20 programs to launch to stop Accesses?
  80. WhatDoYouThink?  Click the mouse and the mess stops.
  81.  
  82. A folder can include multiple documents for MDI (Multiple 
  83. Document Interface Programs).  Accesses has a Table of up to 
  84. ten programs that you can define to "Run only ONE copy" and 
  85. load all other documents into that one program.
  86.  
  87. You can launch a folder from a Program Manager icon using a 
  88. command line like Accesses.exe !FolderNo8 and Folder Number 
  89. 8 will be launched.
  90.  
  91. ********   MDI programs -  like WINWORD   ********
  92.  
  93. This "Run only ONE copy" will work when you double click on 
  94. a document name from a program that uses the WIN.INI 
  95. extensions to load a document.  For the computer jocks, from 
  96. Accesses you can modify the WIN.INI extension to something 
  97. like the following:
  98.  
  99.     doc=accesses.exe winword.exe ^.doc
  100.  
  101. And from File Manager or Program Manager you can launch that 
  102. document.  If Winword is not running Accesses will launch it 
  103. with that document.  However, if Winword is already running, 
  104. Accesses will load that document into the existing copy of 
  105. Winword or for any 9 other MDI programs.
  106.  
  107. You can even set up folders for just Winword to be loaded 
  108. with multiple documents.
  109.  
  110. **** LAUNCHING and PLACING Programs from other Programs *****
  111.  
  112. For example, Program Manager uses a command line to run 
  113. programs from the Icons displayed in Program Manager.  Say 
  114. you have an Icon set up with the command line:
  115.  
  116.    NOTEPAD.EXE WIN.INI.
  117.  
  118. You can change the command line to:
  119.  
  120.    ACCESSES.EXE NOTEPAD.EXE WIN.INI
  121.  
  122. And then Accesses will launch Notepad with the WIN.INI 
  123. document and then place notepad where you have it defined to 
  124. start up.  The same goes for any other program.  Eg.  For 
  125. 386 computers: "Accesses.exe DOS.PIF dosprogram.exe" will
  126. move the DOS window to where you have it defined.
  127.  
  128. Accesses has its own user configurable menu where the user 
  129. can add their favorite utilities to launch.  Ctrl+Esc from 
  130. any program and launch another program from Accesses.  
  131. Ctrl+Shift+Esc from any Windows program opens a Run Dialog 
  132. box where you can select from another menu of Accesses, or 
  133. launch any program from your Windows directory, or click to 
  134. another directory to launch a program.  While launching 
  135. programs, you'll want to monitor memory usage....
  136.  
  137. ********   MEMORY DISPLAYS and USAGE   ********
  138.  
  139. Accesses pop-up can be configured to display % Resource 
  140. Memory Free, and/or Date, and/or Global Memory Free, and/or 
  141. time.  The pop-up window of Accesses always stays on top of 
  142. the other windows and can be made as small as the word 
  143. Format on a menu bar.  You can Hide the pop-up if you don't 
  144. like pop-ups; but some of the Mouse Click features of 
  145. Accesses will be disabled.  I don't think you'll want to 
  146. hide the pop-up.  You can even configure Accesses to hide 
  147. itself after so many minutes of inactivity so that it does 
  148. not pop on top of screen blankers or so that it gets out of 
  149. your way when you don't need it.
  150.  
  151. "Off the WALL Software" always concentrates on Minimizing 
  152. Resource Memory used.  While in the background, Accesses 
  153. uses less than 1% of your System Resource Memory.  Accesses 
  154. switches task list modes depending on resource memory 
  155. available and can operate on as little as 1-2% resource 
  156. memory; although, you shouldn't run windows with such low 
  157. memory.

  159. How many copies of Accesses are running at one time?  Only 
  160. one.  Accesses is now your Task Manager and replaces 
  161. TASKMAN.EXE.  To be fast, Accesses does keep some of itself 
  162. in Global Memory.  Users normally have no problem with 
  163. Global Memory usage.
  164.  
  165. Not using a windows hook, so Accesses is not slowing your 
  166. computer down.  The only significant resource using is a 
  167. total of one timer for the alarms/memory gauge.

  169. ********   MOUSE CLICK FUNCTIONS   ********
  170.  
  171. The mouse cursor changes to show you the Left Mouse Double 
  172. click and a Right Mouse Single Click functions when you move 
  173. the cursor over the Accesses pop-up window.  You can mouse 
  174. click on Accesses to:
  175.  
  176. 1.    Pop your main menu to the top focus
  177. 2.    List your System Information: Hard Disk Space
  178.       Available, Floppy disk space available, floppy disk
  179.       size, Windows operating mode,...
  180. 3.    Open a Run Programs Dialog Box where you can launch
  181.       programs.
  182. 4.    Open a Move next window by mouse clicking dialog box
  183. 5.    Open the Task List
  184. 6.    And up to 5 more windows can be "Attached" to pop to
  185.       the top when Accesses is clicked in a particular
  186.       position similar to your main menu above.
  187.  
  188. ********   ALARMS   ********
  189.  
  190. Up to ten alarms can be set for either today or as a daily 
  191. alarm.  Daily alarms are saved to Accesses.ini.
  192.  
  193. ********   Shareware   ********
  194.  
  195. Accesses is Shareware.  For now, the registration cost is 
  196. $19.  Unregistered copies have a 12 second message built 
  197. into the startup and a shorter message built into the shutdown; 
  198. otherwise, unregistered copies are fully functional.
